Valorant creator Riot Games could not have foreseen the instant smash hit its game would be before its full release. The same day the beta came out last month, it matched the all-time streaming viewership record for Twitch.

VALORANT: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The five-against-five tactical shooter has so far impressed with its blend of quick-reaction shooting and tactical abilities, and the closed beta has been attracting impressive streaming numbers.

Valorant will launch with not only a new map to play on, but also an entirely new agent to get to grips with, and a new game mode to practise.

Players’ progression through ranking levels will reset. All players will start in the full game from the same point, which again seems entirely fair enough to us. For the game’s official release, a new agent, map and beta game mode will be added along with a slew of new weapon skins and a battle pass system.

RELEASE DATE

Valorant will be released on 2 June for free download to all users.

Anna Donlon executive producer said, “Our goal has always been to bring Valorant to as much of the world as soon as possible, so we’re hyped to be able to do so on 2 June. The team looks forward to starting our decades-long commitment to servicing the global Valorant community. This is just the beginning of our journey together.”

WHEN DOES VALORANT BETA END?

The game’s closed beta, which began on 7 April, will come to an end on 28 May, enabling the team at Riot to reset player accounts, patch new content and prepare for the beginning of Valorant’s worldwide launch.

“During the Valorant closed beta, the game averaged almost three-million players daily, ” Donlon said.

Riot Games is also implementing additional servers worldwide in an effort to limit latency.
